Bringing home the bacon - The innovative export meat pack

A customer involved in the meat export business faced a highly specific technical problem when packaging of bulk meat for the stringently controlled Japanese market.

Meat imported to Japan that shows even the slightest discoloration due to contact with air is immediately rejected. It is difficult to achieve one hundred percent success using traditional packaging.

Effective meat packaging requires a super absorbent powder to be sealed within the packaging material. The powder absorbs juices from the meat that promote decay but it is not allowed to be on direct contact with the meat. The problem is this powder is also particularly abrasive and has a tendency to break the outer plastic seal. A fabric was needed that was flexible enough to wrap around the meat, contain the powder, prevent it touching the meat, and prevent it breaking the outer plastic seal.

Not only was Textor equal to the task, we were also able to do it a price that made production affordable. Now our client is saving millions each year because hardly any of their meat is being spoiled and rejected.
