Case Study

A lining under every hood

Under hood liners are placed under the bonnets or hoods of motor vehicles to act as an acoustic and flame retarding layer. They are normally composed of a phenolic-impregnated fibreglass with a textile backing and surface layer.

During production the yellow fibreglass substrate consists of a toxic resin that gradually hardens. Textor provides a textile that backs the still curing resin and protects the workers who are handling it. The fibre glass layer is then sealed with a moulded and aesthetically pleasing surface fabric, also provided by Textor.

Textor's underhood lining products are used by all car manufacturers in Australia.
